Artist Statement

“One thing I have always found comfort in is rain, the sound, the smell and especially how it would slowly drip off some objects. When water would drip down my hand towards my fingertips I liked to imagine a part of my skin was dripping off with it. As someone who grew up with severe anxiety, this idea brought a sense of peace and clarity. I enjoyed thinking of something slowing down to a drip and having a moment where time didn’t exist.

My pieces, some chaotic and often confuse others because of the subject matter, bring a sense of peace to me as I create them. The repetition of shapes and movements have always caught my eye and soothed me, so with that I wanted my work to give others that same satisfaction.”

Artist Bio

Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska I became fully dedicated as an artist my junior year of college after transferring to the University of Nebraska Lincoln. I have always been interested in art, in fact I remember the first painting that really caught my attention, Vincent Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”. I am working towards earning my BFA and my goal is to be able to work alongside bands and make album art or as my other option work as an art teacher for elementary school children. But besides either of those as my career I have found a calling towards sculpting, especially with clay, and would love to further a career working with this specific medium as well. I like to think of my work along the lines of fantasy and and psychedelic, with my dripping concept with a majority of my pieces.
